Neurodiverse Adults

We offer support for neurodiverse professionals and college students. This service is best suited for someone who feels successful in most areas of life, but struggles to make friends, has trouble with time management, and/or has difficulty staying organized. These sessions focus on executive functioning and social language skills.

Social Skills Groups

We offer social skills groups with therapists who have been trained in the Social Thinking methodology. Social groups offer a safe & supportive space to practice friendship & interpersonal skills. Participation in a group is typically paired with weekly or bi-weekly individual treatment sessions.

Location

Our clinic is located in The Fields Professional Offices building at the corner of Moores Pike and South Fenbrook Lane, which is the old barn that sits inside The Fields apartment complex property. Our office is conveniently located on the east side of Bloomington, Indiana, but can be tricky to find the first time. Click here for directions.

When you come see us, you will find that we have two therapy rooms that are calm and well-appointed for both kids and adults who enjoy spending sessions playing or sitting at a table or on the floor.

Payment

We are in network with Anthem insurance company. For families that do not have private Anthem plans, we offer a very reasonable cash pay rate and we will provide you with the necessary documentation to submit for out-of-network coverage from your insurance company.

We are not Medicaid providers.

Our Team

We are a team of experienced speech-language pathologists, who are guided by our two owners,

Melinda Dowling & Rachel Mahrt.

Melinda Dowling

Melinda earned her bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame and then went on to get her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Indiana University in 2008. Melinda started Bloomington Pediatric Speech Therapy (BPST) in 2011. Prior to starting BPST, Melinda worked as a school speech therapist. Melinda continues to use her expertise in schools through her role at BPST as both a supervisor for school therapists and with her own speech therapy caseload in a school.

Rachel Mahrt

Rachel earned her bachelor’s degree from Miami University and then went on to get her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Indiana University in 2008. Rachel joined Melinda as a co-owner at BPST in 2013. Prior to working at BPST, Rachel spent five years doing outpatient pediatric clinical therapy in Bloomington; Rachel continues to use her clinical skills as she manages the BPST clinic and provides speech-language therapy for both kids and adults.
